What We Do

Newark, NJ in partnership with the New Jersey Institute of Technology and the Newark Workforce Investment Board will expand their Art(of)Code workforce training program to train young adults ages 17-29 as well as individuals with a criminal record in web development while providing them opportunities for employment upon completion. Art(of)Code, an organization that provides underserved populations with scholarships and tech training, will lead the effort. The city will aim to train 100 people over the course of the year – 75% will be young adults, 40% of whom will be individuals with criminal records – for in-demand IT jobs and plans to place 80% of those with employers. Employers committed to participating include: Audible, Prudential, Panasonic, and others.
