What We Do

A recent local study indicates that over the next year 1,000 IT jobs will be created in the Rochester area.  The City of Rochester will work with area Chief Information Officers to establish commitments from companies represented at a CIO round table to pledge to provide at least 50 paid internship opportunities to candidates who have successfully completed the accelerated program at Monroe Community College.  The proposed IT program at Monroe Community College is tailored after their successful implementation of the customized advanced manufacturing modules that have an average cohort completion rate of 80 percent and an 80 percent job placement rate.  Other business establishments under the cohort of the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce and the Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council are deeply committed to the Tech Hire initiative in both advanced manufacturing and IT industries as data supports the lack of sufficient employees to fill vacant positions in the IT sector.
